    Description

    Overnight Mokoro Experience

An overnight Mokoro Experience takes you on an adventure gliding silently through the unspoiled channels and clear waters of the Okavango Delta. The mokoro is propelled by an experienced and talented poler who steers and navigates with a Ngashe (pole). From the water-level perspective of your mokoro, you can enjoy sightings of tiny reed frogs, picturesque waterlilies, varied birdlife and wildlife. Your polers will share their local heritage and wealth of knowledge of the area’s flora and fauna with you. This is an experience that is unique to the Delta and a must do for all those who have a little extra time.

The overnight Mokoro Experience is a wonderful way to fully appreciate the peace and beauty of the Delta. Departing from Maun, you will head out to the mokoro station by vehicle, where you will meet your poler. After a short introduction and briefing, your adventure will begin. You will make your way through the waterways, stopping off for a picnic lunch en route to your overnight camping spot. On reaching the island there is an opportunity to do a short bushwalk or simply relax in camp.

Sundowners can be enjoyed down by the river before dinner is served around the roaring campfire. After a night out under the stars, you will be woken by the morning bird calls and the smell of coffee brewing on the fire. For those who want to stretch their legs, there is the chance to go out for another bushwalk before tucking into a cooked breakfast. After this, it will be time to get back on board your mokoro and make your way towards the station. Your transfer vehicle will be waiting here to drive you back to Maun, arriving at midday.
